Critical Capture: Goodbye and Thank you!  


What is GOODBYE?

It has been four years since Critical Capture’s inception. We started out as an exchange within a small group of friends before we expanded it to include other suchen shippers. I never thought we would even reach a point where we would become a fest. It really feels like we’ve done it all in the past five rounds. We’ve met great and amazing authors who have delivered so many fics, ranging from short to long ones, and have gotten commenters and readers who’ve shown us such an astounding amount of love and appreciation.

Which is why it pains me to say this, but after much deliberation, I cannot continue Critical Capture anymore.

I’ve done my best to keep Critical Capture running this long because I love suchen and wanted to keep contributing to the suchen fic community. But I’ve started going back to school this year, and I can no longer keep up with the demands of fic festdom while balancing schoolwork.

I will not be looking for co-mods or new mods, and I hope you will all respect my decision. I do not want to state why because it is unimportant. But if someone does open a new suchen fic exchange/fest, please do not hesitate to knock on our DM’s, and we will help promote it!

Thank you for all the love, support and joy during the past five rounds. We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

After 15 fics, 102832 words, 3 days of postings, and a ton of emails and crying later, we have reached the end of Critical Capture’s Fourth Round!

We’d like to congratulate all our participants who are now officially Pokemon Masters! Each and every one of you has worked hard, stuck through with us even in your darkest time. We are so happy to have had you participate in our fest. From us mods, the readers, and prompters, we give each and everyone of you a big congratulations!

With the end of our fourth round, [livejournal.com profile] criticalcapture has a lot of leftover prompts from amazing people. In the hopes of spreading suchen love all over the world, we’re allowing anyone with an AO3 account to “claim a prompt” and write it without the pressures of a deadline!

GOOD PROMPT: Fresh from resigning from a corporate post, Joonmyun decides to pursue his passion for fashion as a career. Jongdae thinks it’s probably a bad idea. (You provided a general idea of how the plot should be fleshed out.)
BAD PROMPT: Joonmyun quits his corporate job because he can’t stand his father anymore. Critical Capture, Round 4: Info  






In the grand scheme of things, capturing a moment is much like capturing a Pokemon — it takes a lot of effort and patience. Sometimes, you get lucky; most of the time, you don’t. So you wait for that magical moment and watch as the ball twitches, rolling over to either side thrice until the shaking stops.

In the same way, capturing Pokemon is much like waiting for a Suho/Chen moment to happen — it’s painstakingly difficult. And frustrating. But rewarding, just the same.

Presenting: Critical Capture, a Suho/Chen fic fest!


What is CRITICAL CAPTURE?
[livejournal.com profile] criticalcapture is a Suho/Chen (hereunto referred to as SuChen) fanfic exchange and fest. For this year’s round, as voted by potential participants, we’re holding another fic fest. Our goal is still, and will always be, to produce more SuChen fics so you don’t have anything to worry about!

How does it work? A fic fest is a prompt and claim fic event where people can leave prompts on the chosen platform, in this case Archive of Our Own. After all prompts have been collected, we will then reveal all prompts so a writer can claim a prompt of their choice. Their job now is to write it and submit it by the given deadline. Easy enough, right?




Professor Oak, what are the RULES?
1. Given that this is a Suho/Chen fic fest, you may only focus on Suho/Chen. Side pairings are fine, but the fic should revolve around their relationship.
2. The minimum word count is 1500 words. Exceeding the minimum is always encouraged, though.
