After much deliberation, we’ve decided to open sign ups for betas! If you weren’t able to join our fic fest as a writer, consider joining as a beta. Help a writer out if you can!

What is a BETA?
A Beta is someone who can help authors out with their fics. They can do a number of things, from editing simple spelling and grammar mistakes to brainstorming and spotting possible plotholes. If you want to know more about betas, check out this page. There are many kinds of betas, but if you feel like you can be one to an author/s, please consider filling up the form below!

Here is a sample of a filled out form!

Professor Oak, what are the RULES?
1. Do not reveal to anyone what your author is working on.
2. Please talk about your fics privately!
3. Please don’t disappear on your author or vice versa. Communication is key.
4. Let us know if you’ve agreed to work with a writer so we can cross you off the list or reduce the number of authors you can handle.

How does this work?
After you’ve filled out a form, we’ll compile the information along with other betas on a separate spreadsheet. We will share this spreadsheet with authors who’ve contacted us needing a beta. In this spreadsheet, we will have only your preferences for beta-ing displayed. Interested authors will have to go through us to get your email.

Once we’ve given the beta’s contact information to authors, it is up to the author and beta to finalize an agreement.

If you’re an author and you’re interested or need a beta, please email us at criticalcaptures@gmail.com.

For further announcements, please follow us on twitter. Questions? Clarifications? Feel free to message the mods here on LJ, tweet/dm us at @critcap, or email us at criticalcaptures@gmail.com.
